The Knights won their first game of the season after a slow start in the opening round of the Fairview Festival on Monday night. The Knights defeated Cheyenne Central with tenacious defense in the second half.
Guards Holden Killeen, Jonah Crespi, and Brent Wrapp energized the team coming out of half-time with their active pressing defense. This created turnovers, and led to easy baskets, which were hard to come by in the first half.
Jacob Lorenzten paced the Knights with 17 points. A balanced offensive attack including another three double digit scorers; Jay Arehart, Killeen, and Wrapp each contributed 12 points. Their depth allowed them to pull away in the fourth quarter to a final score of 71 to 53.
Fairview’s next opponent in the festival will be Monarch (2-1) on Wednesday night at 8. Fairview will regain Shane O’Neill after a soccer showcase tournament.
